Screening of “Divine Providence”

Get ready to be energized and inspired! Providence is the city that moves rivers and highways… what’s next for our city? Please join the Providence Foundation, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, and the Providence Preservation Society for a cocktail reception and screening of Divine Providence: The Rebirth of an American City.

This film tells the story of Providence from the colonial period through industrial dominance, its 20th-century decline, and rebirth as the Renaissance City. In each phase, the film examines the historical and architectural context in which plans were conceived and realized and connects each phase to the individuals and agencies that brought it to fruition. You will see the city through the eyes of the architects, planners, and developers who shaped it and the historians who have studied and celebrated the city’s remarkable urban fabric.
