2009 Most Endangered Properties List Press Conference
Significant historic properties can become endangered in a number of ways; deterioration, neglect, insufficient funds, adverse public policy and inappropriate development are just some of the threats our architectural treasures face. Since 1994, PPS has sought to bring attention to these threats through its esteemed Most Endangered Properties List. In the current economic climate, The List is more important than ever. In addition to the usual threats, properties in Providence are now further threatened by foreclosure, low occupancy, a lagging market, and lack of maintenance and repairs as funding priorities have shifted.
On Wednesday, May 6 at 4:00 p.m., PPS held a press conference to announce its highly anticipated 2009 Most Endangered Properties List. The event will take place outside the circa 1769 Old Brick School House at 24 Meeting Street in Providence. The press conference was open to the public and all are welcome.
