1409-11 Westminster Street, Residential Rehabilitation/Restoration Award
The rehabilitation of the historic Henry A. Kirby House (1894) has helped to preserve this two-and one-half-story, clapboard and patterned shingle Queen Anne-style residence notable for its asymmetrical façade, corner bay window and high, patterned slate mansard roof with pedimented dormers. Property owner David Corsetti worked with the Providence Preservation Society Revolving Fund to successfully rehabilitate this significant late 19th -century building. Restoration work included the repair and replacement of exterior trim and sheathing, repointing of masonry, removal of graffiti, and historically sensitive painting. The project is notable for the solid craftsmanship found in the renovation of a highly threatened exterior set prominently along Westminster Street.
