In honor of its 50th anniversary, the Providence Preservation Society paid tribute to fifty influential people and organizations to preservation in Providence with its 50th Hall of Fame program. Hall of Fame members were honored on Thursday, May 4, 2006, at an awards ceremony and reception at the Rhode Island State House.
PPS’s 50th Anniversary Pioneers List is dedicated to the individuals who, although no longer living, had a major impact on preservation of Rhode Island’s capital city and who were instrumental in PPS’s founding and flourishing.
Standing on the steps of the Rotunda at the Rhode Island State House, Hall of Fame members and Pioneer family members were presented with engraved medals from PPS Trustees. The 50th Hall of Fame program was sponsored by Mellon. Thanks to these inductees, PPS continues to help preserve the powerful sense of place we treasure in Providence.
