We publish submissions from local journalists, public historians, students, and other members of the local community. In general, we do not accept submissions from politicians, as these officials tend to have their own platforms. However, we are open to interviewing politicians with tips and covering the story ourselves.

Submissions are subject to fact-checking and editorial review and should be pitched to info@ppsri.org. For the most part, submissions in our newsletter are clearly marked as authored by a contributor. We uphold a high standard of journalistic integrity and require that articles be properly researched and properly cited. Stories generally are between 500 to 1,500 words and include 2-3 illustrating images that should be high resolution and credited. Authors are responsible for submitting images that do not require purchase for publication or that they have the rights to publish.

If you have a response to a story in our newsletter or on our site, we also accept Letters to the Editor, which may be published on a case-by-case basis.

Reported and researched stories have a flat rate of $75. Op-eds and Letters to the Editor are not compensated (but are still encouraged!).

Tips

We love to hear from community members about the stories affecting them and their neighbors. You can send tips to info@ppsri.org

We also solicit suggestions from readers for our “From the Community” section in the newsletter, which features upcoming events in Providence. (Please note that while we would love to publish every event submitted, it is not always feasible to do so.)
